			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>In 2004 ‘The Manifesto for Zoos’ provided the first ever full articulation of the overall value of UK zoos and aquariums to UK society.</p>
<p>Following encouraging comments from Gordon Brown to Sir Digby Jones, we are now leading a dialogue with the UK Government as to the potential for historic new funding to recognise the work of zoos and similar organisations.  Encouraging face to face discussions have been held with Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott and Biodiversity Minister Barry Gardiner.</p>
<p>Some 17 zoo organisations have chosen to support and benefit from a wide ranging advocacy programme which also embraces discussions with the National Lottery, the Wellcome Trust and other major potential funders.</p>]]></content:encoded>
