Try TAIEX to pay for zoo to zoo travel and create partnerships
TAIEX is a very neat, and simple to use , little EU funding instrument that provides finance for study trips or seminars to allow professionals of a given organisation and disciplne to learn from colleagues in another EU State. It is all to do with supporting the application of EU legislation and spreading more general European standards and values. It has recently been extended to the ‘New Neighbourhood Countries’ ( North Africa and those bits of Europe that shade into Central Asia).
If approved ( naturally they don’t want to be used as a travel agency) they pay travel, accomodation and subsistence.
There is some kind of understanding that TAIEX bids ( just 2 or 3 sheets of straightfoward details) will be coordinated through EAZA ( …I know because I brokered the deal) , so , should you wish to apply, as a matter of courtesy EAZA Exec Office should really be consulted. However, to the best of my knowledge there has been little take up ( except on multipler occasions from Bulgaria!)
This is kind of surprising since going to zoos abroad and discussing zoo stuff ihas always seemed beloved of zoo professionals.

Thanks, but I am not sure that Government support for zoos and aquaria is as impressive as all that! Not yet anyway,
But we are working on it, and there are existing possibilities. That is what this blog and our work is all about.
