John Regan Associates - External funding for zoos, botanical gardens & aquaria

What is Interreg? And how can nature sites & zoos in the EU get resource (i.e. money) from it?

Interreg is an EU funding instrument that brings together interests from within different regions ( = ‘Inter- reg’) of Europe who have a common problem or solution, and  will up to 50% fund a project to address this.  There are 3 strands A, B & C,  each allowing different kinds of geographic partnership, and each with different themes, all of which have some relevance to regional economic development.

It is about some transnational issue where the partners can all learn from one another. It is not about a series of local investments just packaged to look like a trans national issue . In the case of our world,  themes such as ‘sustainable nature management’ or ‘strong and prosperous communities‘ might prove very relevant.

The programme will open sometime this year and there will be more soon about Interreg on the blog
