The School of Architecture at the University of Liverpool have kindly designed and are operating a new website for The Big Zoo Experiment, a UK wide programme enveloping 5 progressive wildlife parks/ zoo sites. Each promoting an innovative capital project in a bid to raise the game of the zoo sector in general.
Provision of the website is associated with a final year MA thesis project pursued by 4 Architecture students. You can see their blog on the left hand site of the front page.

I was involved with Twycross Zoo between 2010 and 2015, initially on the Advisory Board co-ordinated by John Regan, and after a year I became a Trustee, then Chair in late 2011. Many years ago I had the privilege of doing a modest piece of strategic consultancy with Skansen Zoo, in Stockholm, Sweden. I was pleased that subsequently that institution drew down the largest single project sponsorship in Swedish history. This was due to a mountain of hard work on their part. This the Manifesto for Zoos I wrote all the way back in 2004! It was brought together in response to difficult discussions with the UK Government around Gift Aid. I would do something quite different now ( even more expansive in terms of the overall value and potential of zoos to society), but think there is plenty of material still relevant to biodiversity driven sites making their case to funders.
